My traveling man- Happy 34th birthday

Today is a special day…a very special day, as it is my son’s 34th birthday. It is his second birthday in Heaven. If you have read previous posts here or followed my old blog, you know the Doctors didn’t think he would live to see 30. But he did. He really showed all of us that the doctors are not in control, but God is. He determines our days.

He was a traveling man. In fact, he called himself that when he was younger. This photo was taken when he was almost 3. This was his first cruise, and his 3rd birthday was celebrated on this ship. Of course, I packed presents!  On the first night when it was time for every passenger to meet the Captain, he refused to hand me his little stuffed dog. The captain shook the dog’s paw. Why not?!

He loved the birthday cake that was presented but especially loved the passengers singing Happy Birthday. He was thrilled and sang along with them. He loved to sing.

Today we celebrate his birthday. He taught me so much while on Earth and is still teaching me from Heaven. My faith has become stronger. My determination has grown (if you know me, you would think, “No way, you cannot become more determined”). I really STOP to smell the roses. I run MY own race as he ran HIS own race. My heart is open, and that is a very good thing.

Today we toast you, J.W. You loved to travel, and you, my sweet pea, have taken a journey that we have yet to take. You traveled to Heaven, and it is comforting to know that when I (we) arrive, your smiling face will be there to welcome your mama and BDD. We love and miss you, but your presence is with us, and I am very thankful for that. Thank you for always opening my eyes. That was your biggest gift. I love you.

XOXO from your Mama and Big Daddy Dawg

Hi dear, I was thinking about you all morning. And then I thought I should do a quick check of my emails before I am off to work. And here I read that today is the birthday of JW. I must have picked up this message. ()! To read that your faith grows makes my heart happy. Truly, the only thing I pray for is faith (and guidance). Like you, I do feel the rest is in the hands of G-d. Blessing to you my dearest, for a 2017 of continued growth and love. Warmest-Andrea xoxoxo

Hi Andrea! We have a bond…no doubt you picked up on it. It has been a difficult 10 days with Christmas, New Year’s (18 month anniversary) and J.W’s birthday BUT His grace is seeing me through. I am so thankful for those Godwinks too! His sense of humor comes through and we love it. Thank you for stopping by. I love you to pieces dear one. Looking forward to a fab 2017!

I wish I could’ve shared his feelings of that exact moment the picture was snapped. Happy birthday J.W.

Thank you Mikala. He was not giving that little stuffed dog to anyone. Not even his mama. He was a cutie pie! I appreciate you stopping by.

Hi Mariette! I wore myself out with celebrating. It was an emotional roller coaster but a good day. I know J.W was watching with amusement.
Thank you so much for visiting! Love you honey!

      xoxo,
      Barb

What a sweet story this is, Barb. There is nothing so adorable as a three-year-old little boy! I had two of them & remember that age with particular fondness. I love that he wouldn’t part with his little stuffed dog to even shake hands with the Captain! Happy Birthday to J.W. in heaven & love to his beautiful mama. XOXO

Hi Sue! Yay!!! Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment. Totally agree…those 3 year olds are so precious and mine was obviously attached to his dog (goggy because he couldn’t say doggy). Goggy was a big part of the family for YEARS! I told Ray they need to really celebrate big. When I get up there…parties for everyone…daily.

      xoxo,
      Barb

Hi Christi! Thank you my dear friend. He was my traveling man for sure. I am so thankful he was able to see as much as he did. Yesterday was a roller coaster day for me. Joy mixed with tears. Ray kept checking in while at work. I’ll tell you…those Godwinks are amazing. No doubt He hears and responds. Love you my friend.

      Hug and lots of love,
      Barb
