Borrowed…R and B’s Excellent Adventure

I’ll be very honest with you. I’m borrowing from myself…again. It works, especially if you are crazy busy, which I am right now. Not complaining. This is a tale about R and B’s excellent adventure. I hope you enjoy it. My hubby works for one of the kindest, most generous individuals you could ever meet. He has grown his company over the last 57 years and still closes on Sunday. That in itself is remarkable. He thinks about his employees and what they might like. How different is that? He decided to send several groups of employees on day trips. Our group wanted to go to Santa Barbara, which was fine by me. I love Santa Barbara. I love California. Period. When I was transferred there many years ago, I was smitten. My boys were born in L.A. If we weren’t planning on retiring elsewhere, CALIFORNIA would be in the running. Granted, I haven’t lived there for ages…traffic is worse…But it was home for a very long time. It will always be in my heart.

Mark the Pilot

This is Mark Tillman, the former Pilot of Air Force One. He took the photo of hubby and me. How cool is that?

Pilot and co-pilot

These gentlemen were in charge of Air Force One for President Clinton and Bush (H and W).
Mr. B. hired them after they left that gig. The gentleman on the left is the co-pilot. They were awesome. Hubby asked them about 911 since they were flying Air Force One that day. They talked about how surreal it was, what it was like having fighter planes surrounding you as you were flying, and the horrific scene that was unfolding in the United States. Goosebumps!

cars in the Scottsdale hangar

These photos remind me of the Richard Scarry books I used to look at with the boys when they were toddlers. This is the hangar with several cars waiting to roll. Look at that floor! I could apply my makeup in the reflection. Just like at home..hehe.
plane in hangar
This plane was not used, but I didn’t want it to feel left out, so I took a photo.
Lear Jet
Some of hubby’s friends were on this baby. I think we were in the best of hands with the former pilot and co-pilot of Air Force One flying our plane.
flight tracker
I liked tracking our progress. I didn’t know there were Chocolate Mountains. Heavenly…that’s a great name.
Limo in Santa Barbara
When we landed in Santa Barbara, this was waiting to take us into town.
Jeep Limo
This is the coolest Jeep I have ever been in. We toured Santa Barbara and Montecito in this baby.
Peace out
This man was awesome. Brought back those hippy days……peace out, dude.
Pedal car
I thought this pedal car would be perfect for home, BUT I would have to power it. That’s asking a lot. Much easier to jump on my bike.
Sail boats
Many sailboats. A regatta was happening later in the day. This IS like a Richard Scarry transportation post.
Kardashian Montecito
Remember that little Kardashian wedding? These folks were waiting across the street from the hotel where the bridal party and guests were allegedly getting ready. Don’t know…really wasn’t following it.
2017 update…still not following them. I’m sure they are great, though…just don’t follow along.
The view
All good things have to come to an end, so back to Az.
Backing up the first plane

Backing up the first plane. The gentleman standing at the left was the pilot of this plane.

checking the planes
I still don’t see how they could fit all three planes in there. Our co-pilot (in the red shirt) was hysterical. After we landed, he said, “Yes, we cheated death one more time.” I say that whenever we land somewhere. A sense of humor always helps.
We had such an amazing time. What a gift! We made some great memories that day. I’ll always be thankful. Mr. B. ROCKS.
Thank you for visiting. You are appreciated.

This actually floored me. I too am a lover of California. However, Monaco will always be my #1 love, until the day I retire to my mansion in New Jerusalem. Maybe I’ll see you both there?

So many beautiful places imagined here in this world by our creator, just imagine there. Even John Lennon couldn’t. Anyone who see’s the beauty of this world and believes there is no GOD obviously is blind.

Hi Jonet! Thank you for stopping by. It truly was a wonderful gift…Very fond memories of that day. Although it was a short trip, we will never forget it!
Mr B was in the Marines and is a huge supporter of the military. Thank your son for his service. I have a son who is medically retired Army. He worked across the board with all the branches. God bless our military!
